How I Scope a Commercial System Launch Before Budget Is Wasted

The first scoping question is not “which channel should we use?” It is “what commercial route are we building?”

A route can be lead generation, commerce, product-led signup, marketplace demand or a hybrid. Each route needs a different offer, page structure, data model, CRM or ERP handoff, tracking plan, reporting view and operating owner. Without that map, budget becomes a stress test for an undefined system.

In a proper scope, the output is visible before the work starts: a system map, the customer path, the build layer, the campaign architecture, the source rules, the reporting logic and the handover rhythm. Those artifacts make cost ranges honest because everyone can see what is being built.

If a launch proposal skips architecture and jumps straight to ads, pages or dashboards, it is probably selling activity instead of a system.
